Girl Friday

This girl knows what she wants. And she's got the fashion thing down. Three things to remember: Pink is pretty. Princess = perfect. A tutu makes everything better. Even pajamas.

This momma is going shopping today. Normally this doesn't go so well [possibly the problem is that these jeans look like they fit my nine year old son]. I'm thinking that if I go in with a plan it will be more enjoyable. But I could be wrong. Here's to hoping.

I always feel self-conscious when I dress up. I guess accessorizing the jeans + t-shirts is a nice place to start. And I do wish those boots had a bit of a heel.

Little Green Notebook

So, I've tossed recycled nearly everything in this little green notebook sitting next to me. The last order of business is to let go of the things I don't think I can let go of! Here we go... A few random photoshop tips:
  1. Justify journaling in a text box >>> [shift] + [ctrl] + [j]
  2. To move a group of items with out flattening the image >>> hold down [shift] and click on other items in layer menu
  3. to change a GIF to a JPG >>> in menu bar - image > mode > RGB color

Yummy Chai recipe:

  • 1 1/2" slices fresh ginger x 4
  • 2" cinnamon stick x 1
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom
  • dash of nutmeg
  • 2" strip orange rind
  • 1/2 vanilla pod split + seeded
  • 2 c. water
  • bring to boil
  • pour through strainer into another pan
  • add 2 c. milk
  • heat + repeat [you can reuse the seasonings]

**I love this to make hot chocolate too**

There's a few "to-do" items in my notebook, but I promised to only share what I am doing/have done here so now I'm off to start a private to-do blog!

Enjoy the journey!

I'm Trying to Regroup

I took a huge step for me yesterday and again today (but today it was with a little more angst than yesterday)... Yesterday I cleaned what was formerly known as my craft room. The huge step came as I was going through a pile of papers, sorting them into smaller piles, and setting up a plan for me to revisit them throughout the next few months. I know, I know... I'm borderline insane! I just kept thinking that those notes from various women's conferences etc. held some profound knowledge for me then... so what was it? I was making a plan to find out! And then... drumroll please... I realized that there isn't anything new in those papers. No information I couldn't find if I wanted to seek. So, I tossed them! Wahoo! I did the same thing to a pile that perpetuates on my counter top. Three cheers for me. I've got a ways to go, but hopefully and can unload all of my trash. All this stuff that is weighing me down in every way shape and form. Enjoy the Journey!

Cleaning 101

I found my cleaning schedule cards! I wrote these up to give myself more direction and focus in my attempts to keep a sane house. Basically I focus on one room per day and do one load of laundry (washed folded and put away) every day. Today is craft room day. I could spend a week working on the craft room alone. It has been abandoned and I don’t really know what to do with it. The assigned tasks are: clear surfaces, everything in it’s place, dust lights/ surfaces/ baseboards etc., wash walls as needed, sweep/mop, take garbage out and pull supplies for weeks projects. Well, all the surfaces are buried with the things that aren’t in their places. Seriously, It has been abandoned in the height of disaster. It will be hard, but I will do it! (I wish I had my camera so I could post a picture of the disaster!) Monday is also “wash B’s work clothes” day. The rest of the schedule is as follows:

Tuesday: Front room/den (dusting, washing walls/windows etc. *deep cleaning).Laundry load: whites

Wednesday: bathrooms (scrub shower every other week - so I only have to do one/wk) Laundry: towels/bath mats Thursday: Bedrooms Laundry: Sheets/bedding Friday: Kitchen/Dining room (I alternate planning 2 wk. menu/shop list & cleaning out fridge) Laundry: Boy’s clothes Saturday: Work in the yard Laundry: darks This is a great schedule that doesn’t seem too overwhelming to me. It was very effective when I was doing it before. The key is to just do it. The first week is the hardest because the jobs are so much dirtier. After that, as long as I stick to it the work goes relatively fast because it hasn’t had time to get really dirty yet. Cleaning Makes Me Happy! Enjoy the Journey.
